We’re frequently asked to view files to make sure they’ll work for printing or mailing. Sometimes it is because the client isn’t sure if they set the file up correctly to bleed. Other times it is to see if the design will work for mailing. We’re happy to check your files if you have any questions about your setup, but we’re providing these free templates to give our clients some guidelines on basic setups. In this post, the focus is on postcards. Specifically, common sizes that qualify for the postcard rate when mailed through the United States Postal Service.
These templates are available as PDF and JPG files. They can be dropped into your chosen layout program as a background image to use as a guide when designing the address side of your card. The templates can also be used for the non-addressed side, but only the red (bleed size) and green (text safe zone) lines and black dotted line (finished size) are important for that. The template should be hidden/removed before the file is sent to CEC for printing.
